Bea ValenzuelaLast week was a unique situation which has nothing to do with political correctness, it has to do with sensitivity. She herself brought up the tsunami making reference to the tragedy in Japan so she was specifically talking about those Asia...ns and even with that she was still insensitive enough to make those remarks.
Like Yosten said, if there was a major disaster where my family is and I got a call in the middle of church, God would understand and I would answer the phone.

I have to do homework, so I can't read all of the posts that you guys have written, but I would like to add my two cents. I think that the girl was under a lot of stress. We have all been exactly where she is... during a final...freaking out, and trying to write papers while studying.
ReplyDeleteShe did say some things that were inappropriate, and extremely insensitive. She doesn't get the Asian culture, and seems very narrow minded, but she was stressing out.
There's a guy that posted on the KTLA website who had a good point. it's as follows:

If she weren't the typical "fake-breasted" blond with the squeaky idiot cheerleader voice, she would probably be taken more seriously. She's going to UCLA...She was in the library studying/writing a paper, so she's not a party girl. She did sound a little dumb in the beginning of her rant, but you can tell that at the end she came to a conclusion that it wasn't because they were Asian.
She is ignorant, and should learn to be more empathetic towards others needs. Bottom line. We've all said, done, or thought things without thinking them through first, and then later regretted it.
